FGN launches Centenary 100 Naira Note
Central Bank of Nigeria has unveiled a new 100 naira note to the Nigerian public. The unveiling was done by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele. According to the governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, the new note has been produced using the latest minting technology with advanced security features. On the front is the picture of Chief Obafemi Awolowo. The new centenary note has been produced to mark Nigerians 100 years of amalgamation of 1914 when Northern Nigeria and Southern Nigeria were joined together. Nigerians will begin to see the new note as from December 19, 2014. FGN borrowed leaf from countries like Costa Rica, and others who minted similar currency at 100 year.
