It is unfortunate to report that Super Eagles' matches have always recorded sudden deaths each time they feature in Football tournaments. This time around the victim was an Engineer who worked with Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Ismaila Owolabi. He went to a nearby viewing centre, Promise stadium very close to his house at Oke-Sokori, Abeokuta in Ogun state, south west Nigeria just like every other person to have a glimpse of the tension soaked match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Elephants of Ivory Coast. Unfortunately, the man lost consciousness when victor Moses missed a golden opportunity to score, slumped and was taken a nearby hospital but there was no doctor at hand to attend to him. He was rushed to another hospital in the area but luck was not on his side as he passed on while being taken to the second hospital.
Mr. Owolabi was a father of two, a male and a female. He has been buried according to Muslim rites. Eye witness reported that Mr. Owolabi cheated death last December when the bus he was travelling in had a fatal accident along Lagos-Ibadan expressway and all the occupants died except him.
I'll say may his soul rest in perfect peace. But Our Super Eagles should always be consistent in their games. They play well today and play lackadaisically tomorrow. This has always caused so many people not to even watch their matches but channel their times and energies to European League and so on. But ardent and local content supporters have always watched their games with cautious optimism. There is no need passing 100% vote of confidence on them otherwise, they will cause you heart attack.
