Cynthia, Valerin Osokogu, the only daughter of a retired general was murdered in July by her internet friends she got into contact with through Black berry services like PIN, BBM,, Facebook. Cynthia was until her death was a post graduate student of Nassarawa state university and combined her studies with boutique and saloon businesses all located in Abuja. She was lured by her facebook friends (Okwuoma  Echezona   and Odera Ezekiel both accounting undergraduates in Lagos state university and Anambra state university) to come to Lagos to purchase some items for her shops. They purchased her ticket and picked her at Muritala Mohammed Airport Ikeja from where they carried her to Casmilla Hotel Festac town Lagos.
They used syringe to inject Rohypnol into the Ribena drinks they offered to her. which she took in the afternoon, night and the following morning. By the time she was under the influence of this drug, they tied her, raped her, dispossessed  her of her belongings and left the hotel. They later called the hotel to go and remove Cynthia's lifeless body from the room. The incident was reported to the Police who swung into action. Although the suspects threw away the sim cards, police used the line to retrieve all the contacts made with the line.  One after the other, they were nabbed.
The drug Rophypnol is banned in many countries. But is medically used to stop insomnia. Being in possession of it is like being in possession of Marijuana, heroin. It is a powerful analgesic. Rohypnol  causes partial amnesia, when taken individuals are unable to remember certain events that they experience while under the influence of this hard drug. This effect is particularly dangerous when it is used in the commission of sexual assault since victim will not be able to remember or recall clearly the incident, the assailant or anything that transpired.
