Paying More To Get Less...One Day To go

Dstv has through  various media, communicated to their subscribers about their planned increase in the subscription fees of their various bouquet come September 1, 2012. They employed the strategy of first of all slashing the cost of purchasing Dstv from about N24,000 to about N9000 so as to widen their customer base. After they had gotten enough subscriber base, they resorted to
incessant increase in the subscription fees. For example, In April 2011, the following were the price movements:

  • Access - N1,500 (unchanged)
  • Family Bouquet- From N2,500 - N2,800
  • Compact plus- N6,800 -N7,000
  • Compact- N4,500 - N4,800
  • Premium- N9500 -N10,300
This new increase is coming exactly 16 months after the last increase.The new fees will henceforth be: 
  • Access - N1,500 (unchanged
  • Family Bouquet- From N2,800 -N3,000
  • Compact plus- N7,000 - N7,500
  • Compact- N4,800 - N5,000
  • Premium- N10,300- N11,000
The Chief Executive officer cited  harsh business climate of the country and rising cost of maintaining satellite television among which was satellite lease
After making all these payments, next challenge is making sure you have enough fuel to power your generating set because you should not expect power always (NEPA). Unless you are equal to this task, then get ready to lose the monetary value. Although Dstv stated that they have so many modifications and improved technology in their programming, Nigeria factor will not let subscribers have  enjoy this pay-as-you watch television services.
