The south African Police yesterday opened fire on Platinum Miners who are striking.  The miners lost at least 35 of their members to this deadly violence which was not envisaged. The Miner's behaviour infuriated the Police to the extent that they were overtaken by their emotions and  claimed that some of the miners were carrying guns and they took that action in defense. This one  week old strike has consumed about 45  persons inclusive of a policeman and two security guards said Minister of Police  Nathi Mthethwa. He defended the police action and emphasized that this industrial action is purely a civil unrest and that no weapon should be seen by the striking group.
