Joint ActionFront (JAF) has backed Okada riders in their protest against the new traffic law which Lagos state government introduced few months ago. According to this new traffic laws, a total of 475 routes are no go areas for the Okada riders. This has led to many operators to seek for alternative means of livelihood. Many Hausa Okada operators have carried their bikes to their home states via trailers. These operators have had violent protest in the past which resulted to destruction of many of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses belonging to the state government. Because of this, the state government warned that further protest will cause them to ban Okada out rightly.
This Okada riders should find work for themselves rather than becoming menace on govt and d people. Okada restrictions is the least among problems facing Nigeria today.JAF should get a life and face PDP/GEJ that launders our money abroad everyday.Okada is not a proper means of transport, yet riders exhibit uncontrolable attitude daily and even endanger their lives and other road users. @biodunonline
ReplyDelete@biodunonline, Nigeria has myriads of challenges left, right, centre, front and back. The country is at a cross road,no matter whatever cosmetic GEJ is applying on the country. I know Many Okada riders resorted to the venture as the last hope probably due to job loss and the jobs are nowhere to be found. It is a matter of good planning by the government and there will be a gradual career switch.
