Muhammadu Buhari loses 40 year old First Daughter

The former Nigeria head of state and presidential aspirant of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the last general election, Muhammadu Buhari has lost his 40 year old first daughter Zulaihatu. His daughter Zulaihatu died yesterday (Thursday) two days after putting to bed a baby girl at Nasara hospital, Marafa estate in Kaduna state. She was married to Mahmud Junaid and left behind her two other children. She was a graduate of Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and was said to be a sickle cell patient.

Robbers kill a Chinese National along Oworonsoki Expressway

Armed robbers have attacked and killed a yet to be identified Chinese National along Oworonsoki expressway. According to report, the victim left Oriental Hotels located in Lekki phase 1 with two other Chinese women. The armed robbers trailed them right from the hotel towards the Oworonsoki expressway where they caught up with them and shot them. Their valuables were collected by the assailants. Although the man was their potential target, the bullets wounded the other two women. It was gathered that the man was pronounced dead when he was rushed to the hospital. The other two women are responding to treatment according to Lagos state police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide while the corpse of the dead man has been deposited at Lagos state university teaching hospital mortuary.

Governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Raj Fashola has arrested a policeman who was riding a bike along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway. This route is among the 475 routes which the state government banned recently in the new traffic law. Most of the time, Nigerian security agencies flout laws because they will always have their way whenever they are caught by their colleagues who are enforcing the law. But Ebahon Johnson who must have passed through many enforcement agents along the ever busy route was unlucky as Governor Fashola who was coming back from his project inspection sighted and commanded his security details to get him arrested. He said his administration will not tolerate abuse of state laws no matter whose ox is gored.  He added that the police officer would be handed over to the commissioner of police for prosecution

Nigeria 2016 Census to gulp N600 billion

The Chairman of Nigerian Population Commission and former Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr.Festus Odumegwu has revealed that the forthcoming 2016 census  will cost Nigeria a whopping sum of N600 billion tax payers money. He lamented the lack of credible census figure for a country like Nigeria and heaped the blame on many years of bad governance and misrule, which has given rise to high insecurity, kidnapping, robbery, unemployment and so on.  Mr Odumegwu made this known during the unveiling of United Nation's State of World Population report 2012. The Bio metric data machine will harmonize all such projects conducted by various agencies of the government before now.

Former UNIZIK Vice Chancellor, Prof. ILochi Okafor Regain Freedom

Former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra state, Prof. Ilochi Okafor has regained his freedom from captivity of kidnappers. Sanusi Advocates mass sack in civil service, scrapping of L.G.A, cut in Assembly Seats

The Governor of Nigerian Central Bank, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has warned that unless the federal government cuts jobs in civil service, Nigeria may not be on a part of sustainable growth.  He lamented economics woes of the country which channels 70% of its budget on recurrent expenditure. He recommended among other things scrapping of of 774 local government areas in the country, cutting the seats in the national assembly and strongly oppose creation of additional states as enlisted in the constitution amendment. He said only these will help to liberate the needed fund for the capital expenditure. Sanusi who was turbaned some months ago as the Dan-Majen of Kano state introduces many banking policies upon polices as the governor of the Central Bank. He urged both the federal and state governments to cut down their overhead cost of running the government and be extra prudent in their spending too.

However, Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduagha objected to Sanusi's opinion insisting that such action will cause a very serious confusion in time like this. He equally jocularly referred him as 'Governor General of Controversy'. Also NLC stated that Governor Sanusi is flowing against the tide of the masses.

Armed Robers rob First bank, GTBank, Access bank in Auchi, Edo State

A gang of dare devil armed robbers have successfully robbed three banks in Auchi  in Edo state. The banks include: Access, GTBank, and First Bank. The men of the underworld approached Auchi from wareke-Auchi road having beaten the security check point along the road. They were really prepared for the business as they used dynamites and bombs to blow banks' security doors and vaults. They operated without any form of resistance from the security agencies. Nigerian Nurse Charged in the Uk for Manslaughter of a Baby

A Nigerian woman, Mrs Grace Adeleye 66 of Sarnia, Greater Manchester,has been charged by Manchester crown court yesterday of manslaughter of a 4 week old baby Goodluck Caubergs. Grace, a nurse charges 100 pounds to carry out circumcision on male children mainly of Nigerian heritage in her home. Many approached her in the past and had a successful circumcision but this botched and ill-fated circumcision has exposed her unprofessional, and incompetent disposition to carrying out successful minor surgery.

The special holding facility for criminals who committed violent crimes including terrorist acts was today attacked by unknown gunmen most likely to be loyalist of Abubakar Shekau.  The facility located at Area 11 Garki, Abuja was under siege this morning when members of Boko haram have launched an attack to liberate some of their members including the wife of Kabiru Sokoto who have been held therein for many months .

Tragedy, brutality or what have you of the highest order was witnessed at No. 45 Azubuike Street, Uratta/Express in Aba, Abia State when a trailer owner and driver mindlessly sent his wife to early grave in a questionable circumstance. Ndubuisi Okafor, who hails from Amawbia, Awka in Anambra state has been having a squabble with his wife Chinyere 40, who hailed from Obingwu Asa in Ukwa west Local Government of Abia state. Although the two have been having many scores to settle before the last incident. Chinyere was not feeling ok and she requested for some money from the husband to buy herself some drugs but the husband roundly refused her plea. This did not go down well with his wife Chinyere. The mother of three picked her phone to call her sister intimating her of her ordeal in the hands of her husband. Eventually, the husband decided to give her the money after which, he traveled to Port Harcourt. On coming back from Port Harcourt, he brought up the case again. As argument ensued, he brought out petrol and forced the wife to drink it, poured the rest on her, beat her silly and set her ablaze. Her cry for help forced their neighbours to intervene but by the time they could get to her, she had sustained first degree burn. She was taken to the first hospitals but was rejected due to  the magnitude of her burn. Later, she was taken to Living Word Mission Hospital where she was admitted and administered with first aid. Thereafter, she was referred  to UNTH, Enugu. On their way to UNTH 2 kilometers from the hospital at Osisioma, she  gave up.  On learning of the wife's death, the husband reported himself tot he police but alleged that his wife set herself ablaze.

But many of the woman's relatives have accused the man of using the wife for money ritual. It was gathered that the husband, Nnaemeka Okafor has given the wife an unequaled persecution due to her christian faith. He destroyed her bible in the past and accused her of being an impediment in his  bid to making real money in life.  

The neigbours have all escaped to avoid being arrested in connection with the incident.

Office of The New/PMNews located at Acme road Ikeja was completely razed by fire on wednesday night. According to an insider, the fire was caused by surge in voltage supply  inside the facility. The first floor of the building was completely razed by the inferno as no pin was picked from the the floor after the incident. Presence of the fire service did not bear much fruit because the raging fire was so intense and it escalated within a very short while.

Drogba's Loan Request shunned by FIFA

Drogba's hope of getting an approval from FIFA for a special transfer before the official January transfer window has been dashed as FIFA has disapproved of that. Building Collapses At Jakande Estate in Oke-Afa Area of Lagos

A residential building has collapsed near Church street at Jakande estate, Oke-afa Lagos killing at least two sisters. The injured are receiving treatment in nearby hospital while the remains of those who lost their lives have been deposited at Isolo general hospital. Lagos state government has issued a statement  asking the residents of the nearby defective houses to pack out forthwith. It was gathered that the building before its collapse has been showing many signs of structural defects ranging from cracked walls among others, but the occupants still therein.

Audrina Cardenas was born with her heart located outside her chest.This congenital defect is very uncommon and in such cases, the babies are still born or give up shortly after birth. But the case of Audrina is a share miracle as she underwent a life saving surgery at Texas children hospital in Houston and is currently recuperating after doctors opened her chest to put back the heart. Audrina case is refered to as ectopia cordia where her heart is situated on top of her Tommy. video shows the heart beat is regular and not missing rhythm. Her mother was ecstatic for her successful surgery. Even after recuperating, Audrina will need to see the doctor for the rest of her life, reported the experts that carried out the surgery.

He was killed while on his way to his house located at Ijebu Ode in Ogun state, south west Nigeria. No clue yet as to whether the killing is politically instigated but eye witness reported nothing was removed from his car.

New Born Baby Kidnapped in the Labour Room

Mr. Clifford Ihezukwu and Mrs Eberechi Ihezukwu have lost their new born baby boy to kidnappers at a maternity home in Nkwoegwu in Umuahia, Abia state. The new born baby was a potential target to the dare devil kidnappers going by the way the incident happened. According to Clifford, his wife Eberechi told him she was going to Our lady of apostle, Nkwoegwu ohuhu, her usual maternity home for child birth. Later, she called him asking for his consent before hot drip could be administered to her for quick labour. After giving his consent and the baby arrived, while the doctors and nurses were trying hard to control her bleeding, armed kidnappers  just appeared from nowhere and took away the baby wrapped in her blanket. It was like a dream but their prayer is that they will still lay their hands on the baby someday.  Clifford was astound that he was seized by the police when he  reported the matter to them. He was detained between Tuesday and Thursday until he bailed himself with the sum of N15,000.

46 American States Drive For Secession From One America

All is not well with the United States of America following Obama's victory at the poll on November 6, 2012. While many are joyous that Obama has been re-elected for another four years, many are fed up with his administration and resentments are observed in virtually all the republican states who voted for Mitt Romney in the last election. Up to 46 states have petitioned Barack Obama to peacefully allow their states to  establish their own governments.

It is required that once a petition reaches 25,000 online signatures within 30 days of posting, that petition will be read by the administration in power and response given to the petitioner (s). The following states in the united states have applied for secession: Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee Alabama, Northern Carolina, Florida among others. The much hyped Nigeria and Venezuela friendly encounter in Miami, Florida has come and gone with Nigeria winning Venezuela by 3 goals to 1. N100 ATM Charge Stopped

After the meeting between the Bankers committee and management of Nigerian Apex Bank, Central Bank of Nigeria yesterday, a decision was taken that the usual N100 ATM charge which is usually charged when a user  withdraws money  from another bank has been cancelled. Before now,  account holders have been responsible for the charge  but the decision was aimed at increasing ATM use and reducing over the counter withdrawals. the Director of banking supervision, CBN Mrs Agnes Martins in the company of Managing Directors of Union Bank, Keystone Bank, First Bank addressed journalist on the latest development. Modalities on how it will work seamlessly is being worked on at the moment. At the end of the day, ATM users can withdraw money from any bank they wish and the bank will be responsible for the charges.

The strong man of Kwara Politics, second republic senator and the father Bukola Saraki, Olusola Saraki is dead. He died today in his Ikoyi residence and will most likely be buried today according to Islamic rite. He is aged 79. He has been the King maker in Kwara Politics. In the last election, he parted ways ways with his son and  then incumbent Governor, Bukola Saraki because of differences in who will succeed him in 2011 election.  He left Peoples Democratic Party to form another party of his own. However, his party lost in the election.

Danger! Cell Phone Exposure Impacts Negatively on Fetal Brain Developement

Yale School of Medicine researchers have warned that radiations from cell phone could impact negatively on fetal development.  Exposure could cause hyperactivity in offspings. They added that even though this safety warning is always given by the manufacturers of cell phone including Blackberry and Apple, these warnings are not observed most of the time. The research they carried out recently has proved that people, especially pregnant women should be extra careful with where they keep their phones. Manufacturers advised that cell phones should be kept away from the body due to its radio wave transmission.

The Pakistani school girl, Malala Yousafzai 15, who campaigns for western education  but was shot by Talibans on October 9 has not given up in her crusade for western education for girls.  She was shot in her head and throat while in her school bus on October 9. Authorities flew her to Birmingham hospital hospital where she is currently recovering from the bullet wounds. The 15 year old is now reading cards sent in by well wishers right in her hospital bed.

After announcing that Barack Obama had won November 6 US presidential election, a very large number of 'Hate and Racist' tweets as measured by 'Floating Sheep' were observed in key republican states won by Mitt Romney. 'Hate tweets' were recorded in states like Mississippi, Louisiana. other states include   Missouri, Ohio and West Virginia. There was serious riot in  Ole Miss ( University of Mississippi) where students burnt posters of Obama and Biden. The university administration warned students to either behave themselves or go to jail. Some students were arrested in connection with the incident.
