N100 ATM Charge Stopped


After the meeting between the Bankers committee and management of Nigerian Apex Bank, Central Bank of Nigeria yesterday, a decision was taken that the usual N100 ATM charge which is usually charged when a user  withdraws money  from another bank has been cancelled. Before now,  account holders have been responsible for the charge  but the decision was aimed at increasing ATM use and reducing over the counter withdrawals. the Director of banking supervision, CBN Mrs Agnes Martins in the company of Managing Directors of Union Bank, Keystone Bank, First Bank addressed journalist on the latest development. Modalities on how it will work seamlessly is being worked on at the moment. At the end of the day, ATM users can withdraw money from any bank they wish and the bank will be responsible for the charges.
