The management of Arik Air, an
Indigenous aviation player in Nigerian aviation industry has announced the
suspension of their flight operations until further notice. Announcing this, senior vice president Mr. Chris Ndulue maintained that the
resolution was taken because of the undue influence from the regulators and
influential persons in the society. And that Aviation ministry and FAAN must reconcile their accounts on the debt purportedly being owed by the airline. However, Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria FAAN has hinted that they
have no hands in the plight of Arik Air. There were reports that Arik air is
highly indebted to FAAN (Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria) with about 5
billion naira plus, Nigerian Aviation Management Authority, (NAMA) to tone of
about 7 billion Naira plus and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA) about
5 billion naira plus but Arik MD denied
this report. According to him, they regret the consequences of their actions to
their numerous passengers.
