On his way to the 67th UN general assembly taking place in New York, United States of America, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan stopped over in Germany to ascertain the health condition of his sick wife and first lady of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan. Because of the stop over, his flight to New York got to his destination 7 hours behind the scheduled time. President Jonathan left Muritala Mohammed international airport at 9.30am and is expected to arrive at this destination at about 3 pm Nigerian time but that did not happen as he got there around 10pm and checked into their Pierre Hotel with his contingents. The hotel is at the 5th avenue facing central Manhattan.
A direct presidential flight takes about 11 to 12 hours to move from Nigeria to New York. But because the first lady has been away for some time, there is every indication that he stopped over at Wiesbaden Germany to see his wife.
