Lesbian Couple, Surrogate Mother, Sperm Donor end Three Year Legal Battle.

Sperm donation: A legal wrangle over the child went on for three years
Sperm Donation: Wrangle last 3 years

The 3 year legal wrangle among three contenders: Lesbian couple, surrogate mother and sperm donor ended last weekend. A lesbian couple who are infertile arranged for a surrogate mother that will donate her eggs and published online that they wanted a sperm donor that will enable them have their own baby.  In this type of deal, the sperm donor normally remain largely unknown until the child reaches the age of 18 before he can make any claim. However, Micheal decided to contact the lesbians for private donation of sperm.
Having given birth to the child, the legal battle over who will be the legal parents started since three year ago and ended at the weekend with the high court awarding the ownership right to the lesbians. The wife of the donor (Michael) was given as 'Ann' as alias. The high court's action infuriated her so much. She told Sunday Times ' Unfortunately, one thing I have noticed about couples who want to get Children at all cost is that they are ultimately selfish'.

The genetic parents of the child are Michael and the surrogate mother. When the child was born, the lesbians wanted to adopt the child but met stiff opposition from the local authority. This forced the surrogate mother to temporarily change her surname by deed polls to that of one of the lesbians and this was put on the child's birth certificate. And now, the child is under the custody of the lesbians.
