Lagos state government has sent a warning signal to commercial vehicles in the state asking them to remove any plate number that is not Lagos state and re-register the vehicles with Lagos state government. They claimed this is in conformity with new traffic laws and will enable them to have in their data base all the necessary information about commercial vehicles in the state. The director of Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) Gbolahan Toriola noted that this will bring sanity, safety, standard and security to the transport sector. Mr Gbolahan spoke in a workshop organized by the ministry of transport and added that there is no problem bringing vehicles registered in other states to Lagos but the point is that you must change to Lagos colour and number. He reiterated the traffic laws to include carrying first aids box, spare tyres, waste basket among others.
