The suspected Blackberry messenger and Facebook Friends of Cynthia Osokogu who got her killed on August 22 at Cosmilla Hotels, Festac Town Lagos were prosecuted yesterday at Chief Magistrate Court in Yaba Area of Lagos state. However, the suspects were not brought to court in persons but both the prosecution counsel and defense counsel were at hand. The court had to shift the trial to tomorrow,Friday October 5, 2012 and asked that the Suspects be brought to Court and also the presiding Magistrate urged the prosecution team to gather every information available for prosecution while the defense counsel will equally prepare themselves. The new burial date has been slated for October 5, 2012. This coincided with the new trial date for the suspects.
The first burial date September 7 did not work out because the police did not release her corpse to the family even when Family and friend have gathered in her home town in Delta State, south south Nigeria. Police indicated that they were not through with their documentation. The Burial was immediately converted by the Reverend father to Mass Service.
Cynthia, a Graduate of English Language, Post graduate of Nassarwa State university and Boutique owner First Runner-up in 2009 Miss Nigeria Beauty Contest was brutally murdered by her social network friend who lured her to come to Lagos from the north for cheaper shopping. She was taken to a hotel in Festac area of Lagos; raped and killed. but her killers were apprehended some days later while her blackberry phone was eventually recovered from a port harcourt based business man.
