One of the booming business in Ghana at the moment is selling of sperm to potential buyers. The buyers in this case include: Couples that have infertility problem, Lesbians, Homosexuals among others. It is really a newly discovered business frontier in the Gold Coast. Uses include: making babies, storing them in the sperm bank, and also it is used to make limp hair long again-reported a medical student in one of Ghanaian University who has sold sperms five good times for about 10,000 Ghanaian Cedis.
The student who gave his name as Mensah admitted that the business is very risky but the reward from it is too inviting. According to him, he used the proceeds from the sales to pay for his school fees.
Mrs Naomi Suame, a family woman and owner of many shops across Ghana was married for 15 year without any child she resorted to buying sperm twice from a student of University of Cape Coast. Hear her:
'I discovered my husband was infertile when we married after two years. But I wanted to experience motherhood. I decided to have artificial insemination. I have not cheated on him.I just got sperm from a willing seller and got two healthy babies. Is that not wonderful?' she noted. Naomi paid 12,000 Ghana Cedis to the student and got his sperm for artificial insemination. Naomi continued 'Sperm is one of the scared commodities for many of us. There is high demand for it and many young men are going into this venture to help others who may need them for one reason or the other'.
