Male Contraceptive: Scientist Getting Closer to Effective Answer

Research carried out by Research Scientists in Monash,Melbourne, Australia with team lead as Professor Moira O'Bryan of Department of Bio medical Sciences has disclosed that getting effective male contraceptive is coming in the offing. The Scientists  announced this to Sydney Morning Herald after they were able to  stop a sperm from swimming and possibly stopping it from getting to the egg for fertilization to take place. They engineered  a gene mutation in a sperm of a Mice and were able to cut the tails of the sperm by 17%. Sperms are able to swim because they are being powered by the tails under the auspice of Gene Axoneme.

Swimmers: By disrupting the fuel source that powers sperm to swim, men can be made temporarily infertile
Men are made infertile by cutting the sperm Tails which power the sperm
according t them, this has again brought to fore better interpretation of possible causes of males' infertility. They carried out gene mutation on  a gene called RABL2. This gene is responsible for supplying protein fuel to he tail of sperm thereby powering it to swim. After the mutation, they discovered that there was 50% reduction in sperm production and also 17% reduction in the length of the tails. It was also discovered that all the Mice that underwent the gene mutation were later discovered to be infertile and their sperms unable to swim.
