Lagos Commences Demolition of 3000 Okada

Lagos state has commenced to destruction of 3000 Motorcycles popularly known as Okada that have  violated the traffic laws.  Last Tuesday (yesterday), the special Task force on Environmental and special offences scattered the whole Motorcycles in Alausa, the seat of government in Lagos state. They emphasized that they will go ahead with the destruction to drive their point home that Lagos as a state is very serious about full implementation of the new traffic laws.
 The task force Chairman Bayo Suleiman emphasized that Okada riders must obey traffic laws. It is noteworthy that Okada riders generally do not look at traffic signs. They are fond of taking one way, they cross the  kerbs, they carry more than one passenger  they equally do not obey traffic light. According to the task force chairman, after dissembling the motorcycles, metallic parts will be transferred to Oshodi plant where they will be crushed,and  recycled  He also added that the owners of the motorcycles were not apprehended as they abandoned the bikes on sighting the law enforcement agencies  As for the protesting Okada riders who protested last Monday, he said they have the right to do so but that government is in full control. He advised motorcycle operators to ply routes that are not banned by the new law.
