The Nigerian Islamic insurgent, Boko Haram has shifted their attention in their potential targets. Before now, their targets have been christians, government buildings, security agencies, some Muslims they regard as infidels.
Yesterday, they attacked various masts of Key GSM operators in the country. Precisely, some masts of both MTN and Airtel Networks were attacked in Kano, Bauchi, Yobe and Bornu states. This is to prevent security agencies from tracking their GSM line and arresting their faithfuls. Because of this incident, there was service outage and local residents were unable to make calls. Masts which is also integral part of base station are being used by GSM operators to expand their network and are indispensable in telecommunication services. Fixing them may be quite challenging because of safety and security implication. JTF spokesman, Sagir Musa affirmed the burning of MTN masts in Maiduguri but denied any killing.
